Program Title: The Power of One Voice: Advocating for Children in Foster Care
Speaker: Dr. Lisa Barsky Firkser
Dr. Lisa Barsky Firkser has been the Executive Director of CASA of Morris and Sussex Counties since 2009. Lisa came to CASA after a 25 + year career in healthcare, as a leader in pediatric outpatient care for children with special needs. She has spearheaded several new programs and helped to establish non-profit organizations and pediatric clinics. Lisa earned a doctorate degree from New York University in Rehabilitation and has a master’s degree in Audiology and undergraduate degrees in Special Education and Audiology. Lisa has published numerous articles and presented workshops and seminars around the United States and in Canada.

The competition was fierce as is evident from the results. A difference of 10 points which separated the first three finishers is the smallest gap possible in the scoring.

We are community-engaged women of diverse cultures, backgrounds, ages, and professions. We span the Greater Madison Area including Chatham, Florham Park, East Hanover, and Morristown.
Our events are a fantastic way to socialize, network, support each other in personal and professional growth, while making a difference here in our area.

The Madison branch of the AAUW was chartered in 1929.
Currently the branch has about 60 members of diverse cultures, backgrounds, perspectives and professions. We reside in the Greater Madison Area including Chatham, Florham Park, and Morristown. Members are also involved in all phases of community service and projects. Through fundraising we support our Mature Woman’s Grant program and AAUW NJ Tech Trek STEM camp for girls.
