Diversity Statement
In principle and in practice, AAUW values and seeks a diverse membership. There shall be no barriers to full participation in this organization on the basis of gender, race, creed, age, sexual orientation, national origin, disability or class.
Our branch supports the AAUW Legal Advocacy Fund and the AAUW Educational Foundation. The Legal Advocacy Fund provides support and financial help for women seeking judicial redress for sex discrimination in higher education while the Educational Foundation provides financial grants for graduate study. In addition, the branch gives scholarships to local high school girls, and awards several Mature Woman’s Grants. To fund these activities, the branch holds a Used Book Sale biannually. Same day as the town wide garage sale.
Guests and prospective members are always welcome at the monthly meetings. These programs are selected to meet the interest and needs of the membership. In addition to monthly meetings, there are special interest groups including a book club, bridge group, German club, etc. Other groups may be organized at membership’s discretion.
